Generally speaking, however, this should not affect the durability of your chosen surface in any way. We ensure that all our stone surfaces are completed to the highest possible standard, so they will continue to look great in your home for years to come, no matter what material you opt for.

We only use the highest quality materials for our worktops. As such, all our natural and sintered stone options are heat resistant. Nevertheless, we would always recommend not placing hot pots and pans directly onto your new worksurfaces – especially with quartz – as this can cause them to crack. Remember, heat-resistant does not mean heatproof!

The main piece of advice we’d give you is to avoid abrasive cleaning products like strong detergents and metal scouring pads. They could damage your surface, so it’s always best to use softer cloths and pH neutral soaps to clean up. Microfibre cloths are also great for buffing your stone for added shine.

Certain stone surfaces, like marble and granite, also need to be sealed to prevent stains and moisture absorption. This is all done by our experts prior to install but care still needs to be taken to clear up any spillages – especially of acidic liquids.

Worktop care doesn’t have to be complicated and simply requires common sense. For example, take care not to bump into your stone counters with heavy items, don’t leave hot pots and pans lying around and don’t be tempted to use your stone as a chopping board!

For everyday cleaning, look no further than warm, soapy water. It’s the best way to keep your surfaces clean without stripping away any sealants or causing any damage like more abrasive, acidic cleaners might. After cleaning, use a microfibre cloth to polish your surfaces.

If your worktop develops a stain, try using baking soda and water to create a paste instead – especially if you spilled something oily. Simply apply the solution to the stain and cover with plastic wrap. Let it sit overnight, then rinse it off. Spot testing is always advised beforehand.
